Fat Heads Stone Aged Imperial Stout

Beer Review #127
Here is what the Brewer Says
Pitch black in color, this brew has a very strong chocolate aroma with hints of coffee, dark fruit, and sweet malts. Dangerously drinkable!
9.1% ABV  90IBU
My Thoughts:While I was visiting Lizardville I saw they had this on tap and had to give it a try.  Its always nice to see a Fat Heads beer on the east side!  It poured black with a rich tan foamy head that did reduce a bit but remained throughout the entire drink.  The smell was of rich dark chocolate with a hint of oak and coffee.  The taste followed the nose exactly.  Rich dark chocolate greets you at first and then is followed up by a supporting cast of mildly bitter coffee, rich sweet malt and a very faint hint of vanilla in the after taste.  The after taste of this beer is excellent for a couple reasons.  First, the lingering bitterness of the coffee and chocolate remain and make you want to come back for more.  Second, the creamy, thick mouthfeel remains even after it is drank.  This thick, silky smooth, and mildly carbonated Imperial Stout drinks super easy for being 9.1% abv and I look forward to having another glass next time I'm at Fat Heads or if they have it again at Lizardville.
Serving Type: 12oz Draft
My Rating: Overall 92/100
