Stone Lukcy Basartd Ale

Here is what the Brewer says:
Lukcy Basartd Ale is a dry-hopped meeting-of-the-Bastards in a in-the-fermenter-blend of Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale…with a perfect balance of the essence of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale. All in all, one awesome Bastard.  Lukcy Basartd Ale will be released in November and should be available in many of the enlightened locations where the liquid Arrogance is typically found.
This is a ‘once only’ special release commemorating the 13 year anniversary of when Arrogant Bastard Ale was first released upon the unsuspecting public. That is, ‘once only’ unless we decide to make it again.”
9.2%ABV

My Thoughts: This beer poured a dark amber color, but also had hints of red depending on how we looked at it.  The smell was hoppy right from first sniff.  Notes of caramel malts and oak also came though as well.  First sip lets you know you are drinking a Bastard!  Mild sweetness and brown sugar hit you first and then the hops kick in.  Fresh grapefruit and citrus flavor start the bitterness and a piney flavor with a hint of caramel gets you in the end.  The carbonation on this beer was slightly higher and it really enhanced the hops and the sweetness, while masking the 9.2%ABV.   Body was medium and drinkability for me was very high. Get one, or two, while you can because Stone said "only once", but I really hope they don't mean it!

My Rating: Overall 88.75/100
