Great Divide Brewing Co. Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout

Here is what the Brewer says:
Oak Aged Yeti is Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling. They may be from the same clan, but they have entirely different personalities. Oak aging gives a subtle vanilla character, rounding out Yeti’s intense roastiness and huge hoppy nature. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti?
9.5% ABV 75IBU

My Thoughts:  The pour is very dark brown, almost black.  The head is a mocha/brown colored and the lacing remains throughout the drink even after the initial surge of head is gone.  The smell is very roasted malt and toasted bread.  Both brown sugar and a hint of coffee come through on the nose as well.  The taste starts out with a hint of a bitter chocolate and some sweetness that followed the brown sugar nose.  Mid-drink I got a little more coffee but it doesn't hang around long because the end quickly rushes in. Roasted flavors are abundant as is the oak and the alcohol!  The finish leave a nice little bitterness on your palate.   I thought it had above average carbonation with a thicker mouthfeel. Drinkability is good, but I don't see myself drinking back to back 22oz bottles of this anytime soon...one at a time was plenty!  This is a beer you can sit back and sip slowly and enjoy,

Serving Type: 22oz Bottle

My Rating: Overall 88.5/100
look:4.5  smell:4.5  taste:4.5  feel:4.5  drink:4
