Half Acre Galactic Double Daisy Cutter - Craft Beer Review #149

Here is what the Brewer says:
This beer insisted on being a beast. Uber-hazy and jam packed with the sticky, Galaxy hops, this beer isn't for the faint of heart. As if pulled from the core of a distant, inhospitable planet, The Galactic Double Daisy is juicy and dank, rough and tumble and beautifully ugly. Strap on your boots and pull down some of the ooze, Half Acre Galactic Double Daisy is here.
When I first heard they were brewing this beer I knew I had to find a way to get it.  Thank goodness for my friend Mike who just so happened to be in Chicago the day of the release because this beer sold out super fast!   If you have never had regular Daisy Cutter you should read my review of it first.   This is the bigger, badder galactic hopped limited release version!

My Thoughts:
This beer poured a beautiful hazy golden orange with a small amount of head that was retained throughout but left little lacing.  The smell was out of this world as the name sort of suggests.  Bold fresh grapefruit is the star of this show during every sniff.  The tropical fruit in the nose of this beer really put a smile on my face, and there was also a faint hint of floral hops as well.  The taste did not disappoint at all.  The tropical mango, orange, and grapefruit bitterness are powerful, but never overpowering.  The bitterness is with you from the moment it first hits your palate until a slight sweetness creeps in at the end which helps leave a wonderfully smooth bitterness that  lingers and simply demands you take another sip.  The mouthfeel was mildly creamy with a mild/low carbonation which made this beer very easy to drink and enjoy.  Speaking of drinking and enjoying, I could have easily drank another 1-2 bombers because at no point did my palate feel worn out. Drinking 2-3 of these in a row however will put you a couple sheets to the wind thanks to the higher ABV compared to Daisy Cutter.   Overall this beer is simply amazing and I hope to see Half Acre brew more of this to get out to its fans!

Serving Type: 22oz bottle
My Rating: Overall 97.8/100
Look:4.8 | Smell:4.9 | Taste:4.9 | MouthFeel:4.8 | Drinkability:5
