Founders Double Trouble

Here is what the Brewer says:
An imperial IPA that was brewed to turn your world upside down. Hops will get you coming and going. Pungent aromatics up front pair with a malt-balanced backbone and a smooth bitter finish.
9.4% ABV 86IBU
My Thoughts
This brew poured a hazy pale orange color with a decent amount of white head that quickly dissipated. The smell was of grapefruit and citrus were the most prevalent.  The flavor of this beer is very good from start to finish.   The hops come out in full force upon first sip.  Grapefruit and some mild pine are present along with a smoothing malt backbone that leaves your mouth with a dry, yet pleasing finish.  Many like to compare it to Hopslam. Yes it is similar, but to me Double Trouble is different because of the malt used in this brew which adds more body and a smoother overall experience.  The body of this beer is moderately light with a fair amount of carbonation.  Drinkablity of this beer is good.  The hops clearly are the star of this beer, but the malt used helps to balance this beer and make it not as much of a HopBomb as say HopSlam.

Serving Type: 10oz Snifter
